Can I place an order for prescription sunglasses online?
We offer this service at the practice, but we do not offer this service on-line.

Where are we?
We are a UK company. David Pressman Opticians was established in 1983, in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Sunglasses Online is our online outlet and opened for business in 2008. All our sunglasses are stored in our warehouse in Hertfordshire and dispatched from there on a daily basis, every working day, excluding Bank Holidays.

Are your sunglasses genuine?
We are fully licensed to sell all the brands we feature and all our stock is obtained directly from the official UK distributors (Luxottica and Safilo). Many internet sites have no high street presence, and are not even licensed, purchasing their stock through "middle-men". For you, the customer, this is extremely important, as purchasing from a non-licensed retailer can invalidate your product warranty.

What is your delivery policy?

  • All orders placed before 4pm every working day, excluding Bank Holidays, are dispatched the same day.
  • All sunglass orders destined for UK addresses are shipped using Royal Mail's "1st Class Signed For" or "Guaranteed Next Day" service.
  • For European destinations (excluding the UK), we use Royal Mail's "International Signed For" service, with a flat rate of £4.99.
  • For non-European destinations, we use Royal Mail's "International Signed For" service, with a flat rate of £7.99.

Please note that with "International Signed For", delivery is usually within three working days to Western Europe, four working days to Eastern Europe and five working days for the rest of the world.

How do I know the item I want is in stock?
We are commited to offering the highest standard of service. We operate stock control so that all items marked "In stock" are genuinely available NOW and dispatched immediately. Items clearly marked as "Out of stock" cannot be added to your basket. However, they will be on order from our suppliers and are normally available again within 5-7 days.

Do you stock any items not featured?
We only accept orders for items featured on our website.

Can I place my order over the telephone?
We currently take telephone orders for all Chanel models and for limited edition Bvlgari models. We unfortunately cannot take telephone orders for other items.

Why are your prices so low?
We keep our prices low by providing a simple website and simple ordering process - this enables us to keep our costs down - and pass on those savings to you.

Do your prices included VAT?
Yes, all our prices included VAT. Our VAT registration number is 938 1141 30. However, if the delivery is to Guernsey, Jersey, or outside the EU, then you are exempt from paying VAT, and it will be zero rated during the checkout process.

Deliveries

Guernsey, Jersey, or outside the EU? If the delivery is to Guernsey, Jersey or outside the EU then you are exempt from paying VAT, and it will be zero rated during the checkout process.

A signature will be required on delivery. If no-one is available to receive your parcel, a card requesting you to collect your order from the local sorting or post office will be left.

Royal Mail classify parcels as missing once the following times have elapsed:

  • Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery: 21 days
  • Royal Mail Special Delivery: 14 days
  • Royal Mail International Signed For: 35 days

If the relevent amount of time has elapsed (please see above) from the date of dispatch, and you have not received your order, then please contact us immediately and we will send a replacement or issue a refund, depending on your preference.

Where the delivery address is residential, we may send an email requesting further information before the order can be dispatched. This is sometimes a necessary step in order to protect cardholder security and prevent fraudulent transactions.

We do not accept PO BOX delivery addresses. If one is used, your order will be cancelled and a full refund issued.

A package can be signed for by anyone at the delivery address. This is a stipulation of Royal Mail. Sunglasses Online cannot be held responsible for parcels that have been delivered to the address provided, in the unlikely event the individual the parcel was intended for has not received it.

Returns

If a purchase is unwanted or faulty it can be returned to us for a refund within 14 days of it being received, provided the plastic loop attached to the bridge has not been removed. Returns should be unworn, in their original condition, with any attachments still on the goods, and all original branded packaging should be included.

Please note that Distance Selling Regulations stipulate that you must notify us within 7 days of receiving the goods that you wish to return them for refund. As indicated above, we have extended that to 14 days for your convenience. However, we reserve the right to charge an administrative fee of £10 if the goods are returned after more than 14 days of receiving them.

Please include the following:

  • Copy of invoice, or a note with invoice reference clearly shown.
  • If faulty, a description of the fault.

In the event that you wish to exchange, we will issue a refund, and request that you purchase your prefered model online. The exception to this is Chanel and Bvlgari Limited Edition purchases, for which we would take a payment or issue a refund for the difference as they cannot be purchased online.


Refunds and cancellations are issued as soon as possible, usually within a few days of us receiving the returned goods, and no more than 30 days from the day we have received confirmation from you that you wish to cancel your order, as stipulated by Distance Selling Regulations.

We advise that returns should be sent using a traceable service such as Royal Mail Special Delivery and that they are suitably boxed to protect them in transit.


To protect your returned item(s) against damage in transit, we strongly recommend that you do NOT use a jiffy bag, and that returns are sent back in a suitable cardboard box.

Prescriptions

We do not supply prescription sunglasses online as we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any required measurements and/or prescriptions provided by a third-party. We do however, provide this service in person at the practice in Hemel Hempstead, where we give a 10% discount off the RRP's, where we can guarantee an accurate, personalised service. An exact quotation can also only be given in person at the practice. We do not provide quotations on-line or over the phone.

Warranty

As we are licensed to sell all the brands we feature, all sunglasses are covered by the manufacturer's warranty for a period of one year (two years for Bvlgari and Chanel).

If your sunglasses were damaged in transit, then please refer to our standard returns policy. Alternatively, if your sunglasses have developed a fault during use within the period of the warranty, then please read the following:

Return the sunglasses to us with the following information:

  • Copy of invoice
  • Contact telephone number and email address
  • Description of fault

We will repair or replace the sunglasses free of charge. The manufacturer's warranty does not cover accidental damage, scratches, lens breakage or general wear and tear.

Sunglasses Online strongly recommend that all returns should be sent using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides the sender with a traceable service, and insurance up to £500. Sunglasses online cannot be held responsible for returned items lost or damaged whilst in transit to us. We recommend you do NOT use a jiffy bag as the manufacturer's box is likely to become damaged in transit and in many cases, the sunglasses themselves.
