The Gianni Versace company...
Gianni Versace was born on the 2nd December 1946, in Reggio Calabria, Italy. He began his career with an apprenticeship at his mother's dressmaking business,
where he worked as a designer. His skills progressed rapidly and by the time he was 25, Versace was creating prêt-à-porter ranges for leading fashion houses, one of which being
Genny, Complice and Callaghan. Then, with the assistance of his brother, Santo, in 1978 Versace started the Gianni Versace company. In that same year, the company released
its "Ace" collection for women, which was given its first showing in Milan.
